Social Responsibility

Our Mission

FodaBox aims to be the place for people who appreciate great food and drink, while also  keeping care for our planet and future generations at the forefront of our work. We source unique and top quality products from emerging and independent brands, providing a platform to help foodies find them. We also nurture these brands, helping them to launch their businesses into the popular market and grow alongside us.

We continually strive for fairer, more efficient, and less wasteful practices in our industry. This has led us to develop our policy for social responsibility. Our policy covers two key areas: FodaFolk which revolves around everything to do with people, be that our customers, our staff or our suppliers. Then there’s FodaFootprint, which reflects our efforts to be as sustainable and planet-friendly as possible.

FodaFolk

We are nothing without our people. From our hardworking staff to our amazing suppliers, find out more about the ways that we are advocating for and supporting the people that make us who we are.

Charity Champions

We are passionate about supporting charities wherever possible. Through the years we have created several hampers designed to fundraise for different organisations and charities. For example, for Pride in London in September 2021, we created a limited edition hamper, from which 100% of the proceeds went towards akt, the national youth homelessness charity. We aim to continue our relationship with akt into the future, and provide support on an ongoing basis.

As a food business, we occasionally find ourselves with excess stock, which is why we have partnered with City Harvest to ensure any usable food is not wasted. City Harvest redistributes food to charities, food banks, schools and community groups across London, who provide it straight to those who need it most.

Our People

At FodaBox, we are a community of independent and hardworking self-starters with a laid-back way of getting things done. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but put our partners and colleagues at the heart of everything we do.

Our culture is one of positivity and we strive to create a sense of community in the office. Every day is different and there’s always a lot of fun along the way. Our values of integrity, honesty and quality and accountability inform everything we do.

Diversity is an integral part of our culture and identity as a business. We believe in making people feel respected and included to enable greater creativity, innovation and success.

We’ve been very fortunate to have organically grown into a diverse mix of individuals. However, we recognise that as we grow as a business we have steps to actively take in order to ensure that we meet our own expectations and standards. We’re invested in moving our company forward in this way.

We also undertake regular employee feedback and engagement surveys, to identify both our strengths and areas for improvement. After each survey we review current practices and make changes where necessary.

As we continue to rapidly grow, we’re always on the lookout for problem-solving, big-thinking foodies to come on board.

Independent Producers

FodaBox was born out of the recognition that independent producers face an inordinate amount of challenges in a market that is biased towards mass-market suppliers. Our entire business model is based around raising these emerging brands up, helping them to access the consumer, and growing their businesses.

We don’t just act as a marketplace. We form a close working relationship with our valued producers and nurture them as we go, providing advice and insights as well as helping them to promote their brands and get noticed in the mainstream market.

We hope our efforts make it easier for new brands to enter the food and beverage space, and want to see an industry that works for everyone rather than a few big players.

We’ve built our platform in a way that makes it easy for our customers to make ethical and healthy choices whilst they shop.  We have several healthy product categories, as well as categories for “sustainable” options, empowering our clients with the knowledge that they are purchasing products that align with their own personal needs and values.  We also believe in the power of education, and highlight healthy and sustainable options, amongst others, in our dedicated guides.

FodaFootprint

We, like our producers, keep ethics within the food industry at the very core of what we do. With a keen focus on sustainability and corporate accountability we continually strive for fairer, more efficient and less wasteful practices in our industry.

Eco-Friendly Products

Many of the incredible products that we sell are made with the planet in mind. Whether they’re made from surplus ingredients, packaged in sustainable materials, or donating a portion of proceeds to eco-friendly causes, we have so many options for customers looking to shop sustainably.

Sustainable Packaging & Delivery

We are completely plastic free in our packaging. We recycle old cardboard boxes in-house for use as void fill. Our packaging is easy to recycle from home, just ensure it is clean, dry and dismantled.

We also use electric delivery vehicles where possible.

Fighting Food Waste

We continually strive to implement processes throughout our supply chain that aim to avoid creating surplus stock and therefore reduce food waste.

On the rare occasion that we are left with excess stock, we work with City Harvest to ensure all usable food is collected and redistributed to food charities throughout London. This means it goes directly to those who need it most.

Ethical Supply Chain

We are proud to work with and promote a huge number of positive impact companies. From producers supporting communities around the world both at home and abroad, some that are reforesting the Amazon, whilst others choose to help rewild Suffolk.
