COOKING AND STORAGE
Cooking: Sift ½ heaped teaspoon of matcha into a bowl or wide-mouthed mug. Add a few drops of hot not boiling water (80C or less) and mix to create a paste. Fill with more hot water and whisk until frothy and smooth.
Storage: Keep in cool dark place. Refrigerate once opened.

Cultivation
OMGTea AA is made with a combination of leaves from the first and second harvest . Tea leaves from different plant and tea fields are combined in the same way grapes of different varieties are combined to create some wines. This is where the invaluable tea masters come in, their palate, knowledge and extensive experience are used to blend the leaves to create the different grades.
The most important aspects of matcha are colour, flavour and aroma, but not every tea leaf contains a balanced amount of these aspects. Blending therefore, is an integral part of enhancing the desirable characteristics and creating great tasting, high quality matcha.
During blending our tea master segments distinct aspects and levels of quality into several different grades. Whilst the AA is our entry level matcha at OMGTea, it is still high-grade and can be consumed as tea although we recommend it for lattes, smoothies and as an ingredient in other drinks and recipes.
The origins of OMGTea firmly position it as a health company first and foremost. It is, therefore, not surprising that OMGTea is the only matcha tea brand in the UK working with leading medical professionals to research the health claims regarding matcha.
We are incredibly proud to be involved in this research and consider it a positive step forward not only for OMGTea but also for the matcha category overall.
We have already been involved in three key pieces of research in relation to the impact of quality matcha on fat oxidation and its’ effect on breast cancer stem cells. The findings have the potential to improve people’s health and well-being on a global scale.
Clinical studies in relation to fat oxidation to show how OMGTea enhances healthy weight loss -Chichester University and Acadia University. Scientific studies with breast cancer to highlight its potential effects on breast cancer stem cells - Salford University.
Our latest research from Acadia University in Canada (2019) and in partnership with the University of Chichester in the UK, revealed that quality matcha can significantly increase fat burning during moderate exercise. Participants consumed 3 x 1gram servings of OMGTea Matcha per day for three weeks. In this study, the group data showed that exercise-induced fat oxidation was significantly increased by 35%!
Our story
In January 2010, my mum was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. I vowed to do everything I could do to help her and started working with a breast cancer charity that funds world-class research. I spent a lot of time in the research unit and was fascinated to see what was being discovered. The Research Director had an interest in antioxidants, I found out about the importance of antioxidants in our diets, particularly when fighting disease, and the high levels found in green tea. If my mum was going to drink any green tea, it had to be the best, and it was then that I discovered matcha.
We both started drinking matcha green tea and felt great, my mum was taking back some control that her illness robbed from her and I was doing something positive to help. I felt so passionate about matcha that five years after my mum’s diagnosis, I launched OMGTea, a specialist matcha green tea company.
A year after starting OMGTea, I also founded The Healthy Life Foundation, a charity that funds research into age related diseases, including cancer.

Standard Mainland UK Delivery is FREE on all orders over £75 (excluding shipping) with a fixed charge of £4.95 per order (or delivery address if you're using the multi-address checkout feature).
Surcharges
A shipping surcharge of £5 applies over the £75 threshold if your basket includes fresh or chilled goods from our Meat, Pies & Pastries, and Ready To Eat Meals collections. This covers the additional cost of special delivery services and/or specialist packaging for fresh items.
Delivery to Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland and Offshore Islands will incur a surcharge, usually a few GBP.
